3rd Practice - Thursday, May 28, 2009
After our 2nd practice, we went to my house and decorated a bag that we will keep all our double dutch stuff in. Coach AJ gave us a team binder, a clicker, ropes, and the rule book and we keep it in the bag. Last Thursday, our newest member was out of town and so 3 of us worked on switch outs, speed and a lot of other stuff. The sit ups and push ups took up a lot of time. We were really struggling with them, but after awhile we'll get used to it. We got a stop watch! It's so fun! On Tuesday, we couldn't have practice because all of us were on school overnight trips, but to make up for it, we will have practice Saturday afternoon, probably at a park. Also, we're practicing tomorrow. Hopefully everyone will be at school. We have a really good idea for a logo. It's 2 jump ropes, each in the shape of an S, that stands for Sweet Steppers --SS.

Practice number 2
The girls worked up a sweat today and are excited to welcome a 4th member to the team! They worked on run thrus and switchouts. In the one hour practice, we didn't even make it to tricks! We'll get there though.
I left the girls with the USAJR rule book, a counter, a binder w/ schedule and team-meeting pages for taking notes and reflecting after each practice. Hopefully this will guide them through each practice and keep them focused and motivated.
They are a very strong group of girls, physically and emotionally and it's SO cool that they are excited to double dutch.

It's official!
Northwest Double Dutch is excited to have it's first official youth team practicing and training for competition!
This is an exciting adventure for me as I have been teaching and instructing kids and adults to jump for years now but simply for the FUN of it. Now we will be focusing on keeping the jumping and team experience totally fun but with an added bonus of learning a new set of rules and regulations.
We had our first "practice" yesterday where we decided what our practice schedule will be in the coming months. 2-3 practices a week in order to get ready for competitions next year. You can see the Sweet Steppers performing along side OntheDouble (dutch) on June 20th in Fremont as part of the Solstice Festival.
Oh sweet, sweet double dutch; the possibilities, rewards and awesomeness are endless.
Keep Jumpin'!
Coach Aj
